A Gold Standard B&B

A Gold standard B&B
This really is a gold standard B&B. As soon as we arrived we were given a warm welcome with a coffee & delicious cake and a chat. The room is outstandingly clean and fresh and comfortable. The owners, Gill & Kevin, have given a lot of thought to what travellers want to have available in their room, with teas/coffees/fresh water and snacks (some homemade and gluten free!). There is even a little fridge on the landing with spare water bottles and which we were able to chill some beers and our lunches for our onward journey. Exceptionally Covid friendly. The room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast choices were amazing and the food was of a very high standard and served by Gill in the lovely breakfast room. The croissant, which I took away with me for lunch was particularly delicious as was the homemade flapjacks! We were truly spoiled and it was this that makes this B&B very special. You come away feeling refreshed and rested and very satisfied which set us up nicely for the day!

Best B&B we have ever stayed in

Best B & B we have ever stayed in.

Stayed for 2 nights to attend a show at Shepton Mallet. Can honestly say it was the best B & B we have ever stayed in. Greeted with tea and cake and made to feel so welcome from the minute we arrived. The room was immaculate and a joy to stay in, and everything colour coordinated, with a lovely comfortable bed. There were lots of extras such as delicious homemade flapjacks, sweet treats, fresh milk stored in a fridge on the landing, the list is endless. The breakfast menu included so many different choices and the breakfast was well cooked and everything excellently presented. Now we have found this gorgeous B & B we will definitely stay there again when we next visit Bath and the surrounding area on holiday. Would highly recommend.

A Wonderful Comfortable Stay With Fantastic People

We have just returned from a 5 night stay with Kevin and Gill at the Middleton House B&B, and we really did not want to leave!
We were very warmly welcomed into the meticulously maintained Middleton House and enjoyed a cup of tea with some homemade flapjacks!
The setting is semi-rural with countryside and great views from our particular room (Blue room), while the town of Shepton Mallet literally starts at the bottom of the road. The shops and amenities in town are little more than 0.5 mile away (10 minute walk).
The attention to detail with everything was spot on, and we really felt like Kevin and Gill went out their way to ensure everything was comfortable to provide a ‘home from home’ kind of experience.
We had a great night peaceful sleep, it is so quiet, and we enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the morning which really sets you up for the day.
There was plenty of choice of cereals, fruits, juices, full English, a special Somerset cooked breakfast, continental, omelettes, scrambled, fried – the choices are endless! We did not need lunch!
Shepton Mallet is a great base, and we would always consider Middleton Guest House as our number 1 choice. There are plenty of countryside walks from Shepton, while places like Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar are all well within 30 mins drive.
We are avid walkers and Gill and Kevin provide a lot of information on the area, we were able to store our damp walking shoes on a shelf to dry as well, which was really appreciated.
Off road parking is available but there is also easy on-street parking should there not be a space at busier times.
In this day and age of the pandemic, the Covid precautions were very carefully implemented and a handy bottle of sanitiser was available just inside the doorway to ensure guests feel safe, and also respecting Kevin and Gill’s prospective, as extra measures have to take place with cleaning etc.
In summary, we had a fantastic time, it was not far for us to travel at all, but it felt like a world away which is just what we needed!
Thank you too Kevin and Gill for all of their hard work, we would love to return one day!

A First Class B&B

Gill and Kevin are welcoming, very attentive hosts, greeting guests with tea and cakes, and providing spotless, comfortable accommodations. Breakfast was fantastic, with various homemade goodies to supplement a wide selection of cereals, fruits, yogurts, and, of course, the excellent cooked offerings. Middleton House was one of the very best stops in our three weeks of long-distance walking.

One of the Best

Three nights at this lovely B&B with Gill and Kevin looking after us as if we were royalty. Bedrooms spotless and lovely decor, Breakfast menu sufficient to set you up for a complete day not to mention the flapjacks and other goodies in the room even a basket of things you might have forgot to bring …. Couldn’t wish for a better place to stay. Very competitive prices as well. Only 3 miles from Bath and West Showground if you need it and a short ride into Shepton Mallet. Buses available (if needed) from the end of the road – about a 10 minute walk. We are back next year.

Great Place To Stay, We Loved It

We stayed recently for a few nights and found the B&B to be very quiet, comfortable and of very high standards. Gill and Kevin are so lovely, really friendly and so very helpful with anything. They really thought of everything, the special touches like the really yummy homemade flapjacks, lovely lemon cake and tea on arrival, and our Blue room had a cute blue teddy. We loved the view of cows and horses from the room, and the sheep theme in the breakfast room.

The breakfasts were fab, so much to eat. Great variety of lovely fresh fruits, including dried fruits and nuts. Very tasty cooked breakfasts, veggie, or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, or omelettes. There was fresh milk and water in the fridge on the landing. It was a perfect location for walking into town for dinner, which was a pleasant short walk, they were plenty of really good places to eat in the evening.

Shepton Mallet is a great base to drive out for sightseeing. We had a lovely country walk from the B & B too. We loved everything about Middleton House, really enjoyed our stay and definitely would return. Thank you so much Gill and Kevin!

They’ve thought of everything!

Gill & Kevin are very welcoming hosts who seem to have thought of everything for their guests, and if they haven’t then I am sure they will do their best to oblige!
Their B&B is at the quiet end of the street and there is no problem parking.
We were welcomed with a cup of tea and cake in the residents lounge before being shown to room 4 at the back of the house which looks on to the fields. Light, airy and comfortable. There is a shower and a good selection of toiletries provided.
Fresh milk is provided for the tea and coffee facilities in your room plus the best hospitality tray I have ever seen. We took Gill’s homemade flapjacks for our lunch the next day.
You order your breakfasts the night before from a variety of choices and items are locally sourced.
There is a folder with local information including suggestions for places to eat, several within walking distance. Kevin and Gill are happy to give more information and can provide a table if you think a take away meal is more appropriate.
Number 1 choice if we are this way again. Just hope the excellent reviews don’t mean we can’t get in!

A gem of a B&B

An excellent B&B with all you need for an excellent stay. The bedrooms are immaculate, light, with a well stocked selection of quality products in the en-suite.
The hospitality tray is generous and includes home made cookies.
This place has everything you could wish for including a warm welcome from Gill and Kevin. The breakfasts are to be recommended with juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit salads, and more. Kevin’s selection of cooked breakfasts are to be seen and tasted!
A Shepton Mallet super place!

A Gem of a Place!

I have stay at Middleton House annually for the past 8 years in order to attend an event at the Bath & West Showground (for which it is excellently located). Gill & Kevin are truly excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them! The rooms are spotlessly clean and have lovely extra touches including a little jar of Gill’s homemade flapjacks to snack on late at night! The house is situated right at the end of Compton Rd and is very quiet…..i have never been disturbed by noise from outside on any of my visits. The beds are very comfortable. Kevin’s breakfasts are delicious….particularly the pork & apple sausages! I would highly recommend Middleton House to anyone looking for excellent & high quality accommodation in Shepton Mallet!!
